How to Sanitize a Front Load Washer
Whether you've bought a used washing machine or yours has been contaminated in some way, you may find it useful to sanitize your machine. In doing so, you can purge your washing machine of any unwanted bacteria and germs and help it run at optimum performance. Although your front load washing machine may seem rather complicated, sanitizing it doesn't have to be. Fill a bucket with two quarts warm water and a few drops of dish soap.

Scrub the inside and outside of your front-loading machine to remove all grime and residue.

Dampen the sponge with vinegar and wipe down all accessible surfaces inside and outside the washer. Dry with a clean towel.

Pour one-half cup vinegar into the soap dispenser of the machine and run one small, hot load.

Run another small, hot load to rinse.

Tips & Warnings
A solution of one part bleach to 10 parts warm water will also sanitize a washer. Note, however, that this should be thoroughly rinsed from the washer to keep it from damaging laundry loads.
