1
Keep the kitchen and other areas of the house clean and free from standing trash, dirty dishes and food crumbs. Many insects are attracted to these items, and a thorough cleaning can help to rid your home of unwanted pests.
-
2
Spray flying insects with a spray bottle filled with water and a small amount of dish soap. This will immobilize them so you can catch and get rid of them.

-
3
Fill a small bowl with enough vinegar to cover the bottom.
-
4
Place a piece of cut fruit into the bowl. Tomatoes work best, though any moist fruit should do the trick.
-
5
Cover the top of the bowl with plastic wrap and poke small holes in it with a paperclip. Fruit flies will enter the bowl but drown in the vinegar or find themselves unable to get back out through the entry hole. You may want to use a disposable container for this, such as an empty butter container, so you can dispose of the entire thing when you have trapped all the fruit flies.
