Things You'll Need:
- Tape measure
- Curtain rod
- Inside mount vertical blinds
- Two curtain tie hooks
- Screwdriver
-
Step 1
Mount the vertical blinds inside the patio doorframe, but as far out to the edge of the frame so that the vertical blinds miss the door handle when closed. Note: You will need a doorframe with at least a 3-inch deep clearance.
-
Step 2
Place the headrail up at the top of the doorframe. Center the rail and make a mark at the ends of each end. Use the tape measure to measure in 1-inch from the end mark. This will be where you place the brackets on each side.
-
Step 3
Place the left bracket on the inside inch mark. Use a screwdriver to screw the two screws into the ceiling of the doorframe. Do the same thing on the right side.
-
Step 4
Place the headrail into the brackets. It will be flush with the edge of the doorframe on the inside.
-
Step 1
Place the curtain rod on the wall up 2 inches from the edge of the doorframe. Make a mark on each end. The rod should be a 1/2 inch longer than the frame on each side.
-
Step 2
Place the left bracket up on the wall at the mark. Use the screwdriver to screw the bracket to the wall. Do the same for the right side.
-
Step 3
Place the curtain rod in the brackets. Hang the curtains and open the curtains so that they rest at the sides.
-
Step 4
Use the curtain tiebacks to hold the curtains out of the way of the door. Screw the tieback hooks into the wall where you want to hold the curtains back.
-
Step 5
Wrap the tiebacks around the curtain, pull the curtain back and hook the tiebacks on the hooks.
