How to Make Wall Clings
Wall clings are repositionable adhesive cut-outs for your wall that you can put up and remove without tearing wallpaper or damaging paint. You can buy them precut, but making them yourself will allow you to be more innovative and save some money. Homemade wall clings can be any size, shape and color, whether abstract designs or depictions of real scenes and objects. If you need wall art that is easy to remove--perhaps you rent or change your room decor often--but that will also showcase your sense of personal style, then wall clings will work well for you. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Make a crude drawing of your room with your ideas for wall cling designs. This scaled-down version of your room and your wall clings will give you a better sense of how to keep your designs within proper proportions and allows you to play around with different ideas.
-
2
Create your design and practice drawing it on scrap paper. Play with geometric shapes, cartoon or fictional characters, items around the house or objects found in nature.
-
-
3
Use your pencil to draw the design directly onto your contact paper.
-
4
Trace over your pencil drawing with a marker, then cut out your drawing carefully with craft scissors.
-
5
Use the painter's tape to temporarily affix the wall cling to your wall so you can position it correctly and make sure that you're satisfied with the design. Use the scissors to make adjustments if needed. Once you are satisfied, remove the backing from the contact paper and stick the cling to the wall.
