How to Memorize Piano Scales

Memorizing piano scales is one of the most effective ways to thoroughly learn and understand what it is you are playing. Scales form the basic parts of nearly all songs, and they are a major component in learning and utilizing music theory.
Using practice and other tools to help you memorize scales both in your physical muscle memory and in rote memorization is useful. The more ways you utilize various mnemonic tools to help aid your memorization, the more likely it becomes that you will successfully remember scales.

      Play through your scales without the use of your sheet music or workbook. Practice playing the scales solely from memory on the piano. Repeated practice over time will help you memorize the scales.
