Step 1
Stock up on enzyme rich colon cleansing fruits such as papaya, kiwi, pineapples and mangoes. These fruits are full of enzymes that help the digestive tract perform optimally. Eating fruits first thing in the morning is a great way to get things moving.
-
Step 2
Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables. If possible, juice the vegetables. Juicing not only makes it much easier to consume large amounts of vegetables, it makes it easier for the body to absorb the nutrients and enzymes. If you decided to juice your vegetables, start slow by drinking no more than 4 ounces at a time and gradually build up to full 8- to 10-oz glasses. Your stomach is the best indicator as to whether or not you're ready to increase the amount of vegetable juice you drink.

Step 3
Fill up with organic whole grains and drink plenty of water. Whole grains such as quinoa, aramanth and millet contain fiber. The fiber adds the necessary bulk to clean the "hard to reach" places of the colon. Drinking water helps to push the fiber along.

Step 4
Stay away from animal sources of protein. Legumes and soy are a good source of protein to eat while on a vegetable colon cleanse. If, however, you find that you just cannot give up eating meat during the cleanse, limit your meat to lean sources such as turkey, chicken and fish.

Step 5
Cut out processed foods. Most process foods are void of nutrition and high in salt and sugar. These are the very same toxins a vegetable cleanse aims to rid. Do yourself a favor by dropping processed foods from your diet, especially during a colon cleanse.
