How to Rit Dye a Lacrosse Head
Dyeing your lacrosse head gives you an identity on the field. Using Rit Dye, you can create lacrosse heads that symbolize your team's colors or your favorite color. The process is easy and the result can be either subdued or bold, depending on the customizing method you choose. Best of all, because you can dye your lacrosse head with products from a supermarket, it is inexpensive as well.
Things You'll Need
- Rit Dye
- Aluminum roasting pan
- Electrical tape
- Scissors
- Disposable drinking straw

Visualize how you want your lacrosse head to look. Choose your colors, designs and any lettering you wish to add before you begin the dyeing process.

Remove the pocket strings, as you'll most likely want these to remain white.

Tape off any areas of the design that you wish to remain white or dye another color later. Warm the tape before applying it to the head so it will adhere better. Use scissors to cut the tape from the roll, as electrical tape can be difficult to tear.

Fill the aluminum roasting pan with enough water to cover the lacrosse head. Transfer the water to a large cooking pot.

Place the pot on your stovetop and bring the water to a boil.

Turn off the heat and carefully transfer the water back to the aluminum roasting pan.

Add the dye while the water. Stir with a disposable straw or other utensil not used for food preparation.

Submerge the lacrosse head in the dye while the water is still hot. Allow the head to stay submerged for roughly 5 minutes.

Remove the lacrosse head from the dye and allow to dry.

Tips & Warnings
If you are dyeing the head more than one color, start with the lightest color. It will be nearly impossible to dye over any mistakes that are a darker color.
Never use a container for dyeing that you plan to use for food preparation or serving later.
