Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the tool, take out the battery or, if it is gas-powered, make sure the tank is empty and the spark plug wire is disconnected.

    • 2

Look for the locking tabs on the bottom of the weed trimmer and press them to open up the weed trimmer hub. This is perhaps the most difficult part, as each model is slightly different and the locking tabs can be difficult to locate or pry open. You may need to use some force and a little engineering to get the weed trimmer open.

    • 3

Clean the surface of the weed trimmer chamber to remove any grass and debris.

    • 4

Replace the used spool with a new spool of prewound weed trimmer line. Rotate the new spool until it fits firmly in place.

    • 5

Unwind one end of the weed trimmer line and thread it through one of the eyelets in the weed trimmer hub. Allow the line to come out roughly 3 to 5 inches. Push the line coming off the spool into one of the notches on the spool to hold the line in place.

    • 6

Unwind the other end of the line and thread it through the other eyelet in the weed trimmer hub. Once again, allow about 3 to 5 inches of line out of the exit holes. Secure the line by pressing it into the notch on the spool.

    • 7

Secure the hub back onto the weed trimmer. Tug slightly on the line from both ends to make sure it is secure.

    • 8

If the line protrudes too much from the weed trimmer chamber, simply trim the line to length with scissors.

    • 9

Make sure the weed trimmer chamber is locked firmly into place by ensuring that the locking tabs are fully engaged.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before opening your weed trimmer, make sure the tool is switched off and has been unplugged.

  • Never use string, wire or any other material other than weed trimmer line designed for your model of weed trimmer.
