PayPal imposes a $1.50 fee per check when you request a check withdrawal, which is available through the not-entirely-intuitive option to transfer money to your bank account. Alternative options to access your funds include direct account transfer, ATM withdrawal and online purchases.
Using the direct account transfer option eliminates the check fee and delivers your money much quicker than by check.
Step 1: Choose to Transfer Money
When you log in, your PayPal Summary page launches. Click Transfer to Your Bank. The wording on this link conceals the option to request a check payout, but that option is revealed in the next screen.
Step 2: Choose the Check Option
Step 3: Enter the Amount
Enter the amount you wish to withdraw in the field provided, select your mailing address and click Continue. You have the option to review your selections before submitting the request.
The $1.50 fee will be deducted from this amount; if you need an exact figure on the check, add $1.50 to that amount and enter it in the Amount field.
Step 4: Confirm the Request
Review the amount and delivery address and then click Submit to complete the request. This confirmation page displays the requested amount, the fee, the final check amount, the delivery address and to whom the check will be written. The check should arrive within one to two weeks for U.S. customers or up to six weeks for international deliveries.
