A quality cutting board not only serves you well in the kitchen, but is an attractive tool that many cooks enjoy having. Whether you have a wooden cutting board or an acrylic cutting board, care for the cutting board carefully and store it properly to extend its life. When you consider your cutting board to be an investment, you will want to store it properly to keep it for many years.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cutting board
  • Hook (screw-in)
  1. Step 1

Find a suitable storage place for your cutting board in the kitchen. Ideally, this will be a place where you can easily reach the cutting board when you need it. If your cutting board has a cut-out hole for hanging and is especially attractive, you may wish to display it when you are not using it. Find a spot on the wall where you can hang it.

  2. Step 2

Screw the hook into the wall if you will be hanging the cutting board. Make sure the placement is correct before installing the hook in the wall.

  3. Step 3

Hang the cutting board on the hook or store it vertically in the kitchen. Position it on the counter top propped against the backsplash or slide it into a cupboard so that it is in an upright position.

Tips & Warnings
  • Storing a cutting board in an upright position will prevent water from accumulating under the surface of the cutting board during storage. Dirt will also not settle on the surface of the cutting board when it is stored vertically. This is particularly important for wooden cutting boards.
