Things You'll Need

  • Casserole dish
  • Nonstick spray
  • 2 lbs. frozen hash browns, chopped or shredded
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded or grated
  • 1/2 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • 8 oz. sour cream (optional)
  • 2 cups cornflakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (optional)

      Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

      Coat your casserole dish with nonstick spray.

      Combine hash browns, melted butter, cream of chicken soup, cheese, chopped onions, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl --- add sour cream also, if you wish. Mix thoroughly.

      Place the mixture into your greased casserole dish. Cover and bake for 30 to 45 minutes, or until bubbly.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want a crunchy topping for your casserole, mix 2 cups cornflakes with 1/4 cup melted butter and spread over the top before baking.
