Here are ideas on how to make some of the easiest and most used Christmas ornaments. Make these Christmas tree ornaments at home with your kids, and have some great times!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Construction paper of 2 contrasting colors; Glue; Square Construction paper pieces; Clear string; Colored beads; Styrofoam balls; Gold and/or Silver paint; Craft wire; Glitter of various colors.
  1. Step 1

An easy way of using excess construction paper that is lying around the home is this. Cut 1-inch by 3-inch pieces from the construction paper that you have. Use a contrasting color construction paper to cut similar pieces. Take 1 of these pieces and stick the two 1-inch ends, to get a ring. Link this with the contrasting color construction paper piece, and make a ring with that piece. Thus, you now have rings of 2 colors, which are interlinked. Keep doing this till you have a sufficient length. Hang it from the top of the Christmas tree, spiraling to the bottom.

  2. Step 2

You can make some great Christmas tree ornaments using beads. Get packets of beads of various colors. Decide on a bead pattern that you would like to use. Once you have decided this, string this bead pattern on a clear string. You can tie off the ends, once the string of beads is long enough.

  3. Step 3

If you are good at origami or would want to learn, you can get some great ideas on the internet. Make origami birds, balls, balloons, stars and so on. You can then tie them to the Christmas tree, using clear string.

  4. Step 4

Make use of Styrofoam balls, to make the most commonly used Christmas tree ornament. Paint/Spray paint these balls using gold and silver colors. Let them dry completely. Bend a small piece of craft wire to create a 'U' shape. Put some glue to the ends of this 'U' shape and then, push down the ends into the Styrofoam balls. You now have Gold/Silver colored balls to hang on the Christmas tree!

  5. Step 5

If you want to add some glitter, you could always dip Styrofoam balls in glue and then, roll them in glitter. This way, you can create colored glitter balls. Use craft wire to make the hook, as mentioned in the step above.

  6. Step 6

Even your kids would know how to make paper snowflakes! Just take a square white paper, and fold it into fourths. Now cut off the pointed edges and then, keep making big and small notches all over. This part is great fun. Once you are done, open up the paper and Voila! Paper snowflake. If you want a different pattern, you could always take a white paper that is cut into a circle and then do the same thing.

  7. Step 7

Making icicles using beads is also very easy. Take a piece of craft wire and put a drop of hot glue at the end. Slide in the smallest bead and allow it to stick/dry. Place a drop of glue on the craft wire, just above this bead. Slide in a bead which is a little bigger, let that dry. Keep doing this till you get a length of beads, which goes from the smallest to the largest. Once you are at the top, just bend the craft wire to form a hook. Hang it up on the Christmas tree.
