Step 1
Use free printable birth announcements to list memorable details about the baby’s birth such as the date and time, length, weight, eye and hair color, hospital and location. Find birth announcement templates at websites such as Birth-Cards.com, Birth Village or ThePaperMillStore.com.
-
Step 2
Choose a baby announcement template with a design or motif that suits your style. Find a version featuring a blank spot to where you can attach a small baby photo with acid-free double-sided tape to turn the document into a photo birth announcement. Pick a version with a pre-printed design for a quick birth announcement craft or select a printable birth announcement that doesn’t have an unchangeable border, corner designs or a baby-related accent if you’d rather personalize the look.
-
Step 3
Print the baby announcement directly from the computer or save the PDF document so you can resize the image in a word processing program. Some websites may require you to download a zipped file and work with the template in photo-editing software.
-
Step 4
Output the printable birth announcement on colorful cardstock or decorative paper with a subtle pattern and fill in the information with a black, photo-safe pen. If you’d rather not fill in the baby announcement longhand, find a site that offers a writable document so you can use the existing baby announcement wording and type in the details before printing.
-
Step 5
Create a decorative border by using stickers, paper punch pieces or a baby-themed rubber stamp. If you’re using a large image such as a cute baby face sticker, consider applying a sticker on each corner and using a colorful marker or silver leafing pen to draw a line from corner to corner to “connect” the embellishments.
-
Step 6
Place the completed birth announcement in a pink or blue wood frame to display on a fireplace mantel or in the baby’s nursery. If you want to send copies of the announcement to friends and family, output multiple copies, make reprints of the desired photo and complete the printable birth announcements assembly line style.

on 11/18/2009 Another great source for creating free birth announcements is www.Amigram.com. People appreciate the opportunity to share their good news without having to let all their relatives and parents’ friends onto their Facebook page, pay for a newspaper listing, or create a website.
Of course, they can also send their announcement to Facebook and Twitter, if they want to spread the news; or if they want to keep their announcement private, they can restrict it so only friends and family see it.
