How to Insert or Add Rows in a Chart in a Word Document

Don't worry. You are not crazy. Adding a row or lots of rows to the bottom of a chart or inserting rows in the middle of a chart in Microsoft Word is not intuitive. It's easy, but you have to know what to do in order to do it!

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    To add a new row to the bottom of an existing chart in a Word document, highlight the last row that is already there and Right Click.

  2. Step 2

    Click on Insert.

  3. Step 3

    Click on Row Below.

  4. Step 4

    Highlight more rows if you want to insert more than one row. If you highlight 5 rows, you will get 5 rows added or inserted.

  5. Step 5

    To add a row in the middle of the chart, highlight a row above or below where you want it and right click. Click insert. Clicker Row Above or Row Below depending on which row you highlighted. You can highlight more than one row to insert more rows in the middle of the chart.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is the same prodecure as inserting colums.
  • There may be some slight differences in wording depending on which version of Word you have.
