-
Step 1
Visit Amazon.com and open an account. If you have ever bought anything on Amazon, you will already be registered to sell. You will need to add your checking account number so that you can receive payments.
-
Step 2
You can sell books, DVDs, CDs, toys, household items, and most other items right away. Sellers must be approved to sell in categories containing more expensive items such as jewelry, watches, apparel, shoes, computers, and electronics.
-
Step 3
There is no fee to list an item on Amazon. If your item doesn’t sell, you are not out any money. If it does sell, you have made money!
-
Step 4
To list your item, enter the UPC code off the product or just enter the keywords. Amazon will find the item and pull up the photo and description for you. No need to take a photo or write a description.
-
Step 5
If the item is used, you must enter the condition of the item on a graded scale. Just choose the option honestly – like new, good, fair, poor, etc. Just be honest so that your customer receives the item in the condition he expects.
-
Step 6
Amazon determines how much is charged for shipping by giving sellers a shipping allowance on each item listed. Sometimes the shipping allowance is more than actual shipping, sometimes it is less. In the end, the shipping evens out over time so this is not a big concern.
-
Step 7
When your item sells on Amazon, you will get an email notifying you of the sale. All sellers must ship items within 2 business days. Sellers are also required to offer a 30 day return policy.
-
Step 8
There is no such thing as an unpaid item on Amazon. Paypal is not involved. If the buyer doesn’t pay, the sale does not happen. Amazon pays sellers sales proceeds every two weeks by direct deposit.
-
Step 9
There is much more to selling on Amazon. See the resources section below for more resources to help you make the transition from eBay to Amazon smoothly.
