Reduce Your Grocery Bill with Coupons in 5 Easy Steps

In these difficult economic-times, we should be Smart Shoppers. Spending money wisely can be just as important as earning it. Coupons can be a very helpful way to reduce spending.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Coupon Websites
  • Printable Coupons
  • Magazines, Ads, etc.
  • Scissors
  • Coupon File Folder
  1. Step 1

Save All Your Coupons. You can find coupons everywhere. If you don’t need them now, just save them for later. Coupons can be found in magazines, newspapers, fliers, mailers, on grocery receipts, in the “blinkies” on the supermarket shelves, and in that free neighborhood-newspaper in your front yard.

  2. Step 2

Be Assertive. Don’t just wait for the coupons to come to you, go get them! You can also find Free Printable Grocery Coupons on websites. Some of the most popular sites are: coupons.com, smartsource.com, Dominicks.com. couponloop.com, redplum.com, and shortcuts.com

You can also find coupons from the store of your choice by using websites like pocketdeal.com.

Here’s a website I think you’ll really like momslikeme.com. In addition to free printable-coupons, this site has Discussion Groups, a Buy & Sell page, Contests, and lots more.

  3. Step 3

Read The Small Print. Some store coupons can be combined with other offers. The discount will be taken off of the original price for each coupon. This is called “stacking” and it is the key to big savings. This means that if you have a store coupon for 20% off and a manufacturer’s coupon for the same item to buy one/get one free, you can buy one at 20% off the original price and get another one free. Or how about this? If you have a coupon for 1 item free, you can combine it with a coupon to buy one/get one free of the same item and get 2 for free. It just keeps getting better!

  4. Step 4

Get Organized. Most coupons are good for several months. You can swap the ones you don’t want with family, friends and neighbors. Now for the ones you keep. You can buy an accordion file folder made just for coupons. Label them by store and write the date on the front of each ad that you put in the file. Put the latest coupons in the back. When you plan a trip to the grocery store, just cut the ones you will use and put them with your grocery list.

  5. Step 5

Take Advantage of a Great Deal and Stock Up!

on 11/23/2009 Geez. You must have been really good at Monopoly as a child. This is a tad confusing but certainly worth investigating. Companies make coupons to generate spending so beware, in the long run you may not be saving as much as you think you are. I'm skeptical but after reading your article I'm going to take another look. Thank you.
