Government grants for individuals are available for people that want to apply for a grant on behalf of themselves rather than for a company or industry. Individual grant applications can be found online, here are a few steps to help you file for an individual government grant online.

1. Before you resister as an individual for government grant opportunities you must first make sure you qualify, you can do this by looking at the requirements on grants.gov

2. You must first register for grants offered to individuals not companies. For example, you cannot individually apply for grants that are set aside for small businesses. You can register for an individual grant at www.grants.gov/applicants/individual_registration.jsp Organization registration is a different process.

3. Locate a grant that indicate individual eligibility within the synopsis and full announcement, this will be the available grants that individual can apply for. Remember that their are not grants for personal finance assistance.

4. Search for the grants by typing in the grant title your looking for under the search criteria provided by grants.gov you can use different search options to narrow your search results. Individual grants are NOT available for student loan repayments, home repairs, medical bill pay, or new business start-up costs plus more.
