How to Make Your Own Unity Candle
Lighting a unity candle is a popular wedding event. During the wedding, the mothers of the groom and bride light the candles at the ends, and after the vows are exchanged the bride and groom light the center unity candle together using the already lit candles.

Purchase three candle holders, one to hold a pillar candle and two to hold taper candles.

Purchase a pillar candle, approximately 6 inches tall, two taper candles and two tea lights.

Cut the wicks on the candles for easy lighting during the ceremony.

Purchase ribbon in colors matching the theme. Cut to size. Wrap the ribbon around the pillar candle and use the double stick tape to hold in place. To hide the rough ribbon edges, fold over the end of the ribbon before taping.

Set up the unity candle on the day of the ceremony. You'll need a small table to hold your display.

Tips & Warnings
If you are using a white unity candle, it can add a bit of flair to choose an accent color for your taper candles.
Layering multiple colors of ribbon can add visual interest. Using a gold or silver ribbon can add a touch of elegance.
You might need to use a bit of foil to hold your taper candles securely in place.
