How to Find Hot Slot Machines
Everyone hopes to find a hot slot machine that will pay out a huge jackpot without a large investment. Michael Bluejay of Vegas Click says that slot machine payouts are controlled by computer, and their overall payout percentage is less than most other casino games. This makes it hard to find a hot slot machine or increase your odds of winning. However, there are some strategies you can use to enhance your slot-playing experience.

1
Go to the casino with the highest slot machine payout. Although states regulate the minimum payout percentage, casinos are free to offer more. You are more likely to find a hot slot machine at a casino with higher payouts because its slot machines will pay out more money overall.

2
Avoid progressive slot machines. They tempt many gamblers with digital readouts advertising a huge jackpot. However, Bluejay says progressives usually have a lower payout percentage than non-progressive slots.

3
Play traditional reel slot machines instead of their video counterparts. Video slots are taking over many casinos, but Bluejay says older machines often have a better payout percentage.

4
Play a low denomination slot machine, such as the 25 cent machines instead of the $1 machines. These machines may have a lower payout rate, but Bluejay says you will lose less money over time when playing them. This will allow you to play longer, increasing the time in which you can find a hot machine.

Play a slot machine in a highly visible area, like a busy walkway or raised platform. Machines near change booths, shops and restaurants can also be a good choice. Slots.cd says casinos tend to place hot slot machines in places where the payouts can be seen by others, hoping to entice more customers.

Tips & Warnings
Always use a rewards card if the casino offers one. These cards let you earn points while you are playing the slot machines. You can redeem the points for gift certificates, merchandise, free meals and other rewards. That will allow you to gain something even if you never find a hot slot machine.
Bluejay says many casinos post advertisements with vague promises like "high paybacks" or slogans like "Loosest Slots in Town." He advises gamblers to ignore these promises and compare actual payback percentages. Look for casinos that provide payback numbers instead of fluffy descriptive words.

#2 Isn't always the case unless it's a large jackpot linked progressive like MegaBucks. #3 Is also inaccurate. Video slots can be, and often are, set higher than reel slots. Overall there is no appreciable difference either way. #4 Is partially true so long as you don't move too far down... paybacks decrease rapidly below .25 cent machines. The key is to get the best payback while betting the least amount.
