Microsoft Word is a text application that allows you to create, format and share documents quickly and effectively. Not only can you work with text, but you can also insert charts, graphics, columns and other objects. Microsoft Word is bundled with the Microsoft Office Suite, or you may purchase it separately. A typical installation of Word includes Office tools, online help, Excel and WordPerfect converters, wizards and templates, spell-checking, a thesaurus, automatic hyphenation and graphic imports/exports. Word may require significant hard disk space, depending on the version you're installing.

  1. Step 1

Close any open programs, then place your Microsoft Word installation disc into the CD-Rom or DVD drive. The installation should start automatically. If it doesn't, click on the "Start" button in Windows and select "Run."
