The Bose 901 home speakers were innovative when they were first introduced, and are still highly regarded by many audio enthusiasts. Part of the process that makes them sound so distinctive is the special equalizer that is provided with the speakers. This equalizer must be connected to your amplifier when using the 901s.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Receiver or amplifier with tape monitor function
  • Two stereo RCA patch cords
  1. Step 1

Find the "Tape Monitor" connections on the back of your receiver. There will be two pairs of RCA-style inputs, one marked "IN" and the other "OUT."

  2. Step 2

Find the "Amplifier Input" and "Amplifier Output" connections on the back of the 901 equalizer.

  3. Step 3

Take a stereo RCA cable and connect it between the "IN" jacks on the receiver and the "Amplifier Output" jacks on the equalizer. Insert the red plug into the "R" jack on both ends, and the white plug into the "L" jack on both ends.

  4. Step 4

Take a stereo RCA cable and connect it between the "OUT" jacks on the receiver and the "Amplifier Input" jacks on the equalizer. Insert the red plug into the "R" jack on both ends, and the white plug into the "L" jack on both ends.

  5. Step 5

Plug the power cord of the equalizer into a wall socket.

  6. Step 6

When listening to music, be sure the "Tape Monitor" switch on your amplifier or receiver is switched to "On."
