How to Change a Bulb in a Panasonic Projector

Bulbs in Panasonic home theatre projectors, called lamp units by Panasonic, need to be replaced after 2,000 hours of use. The unit will automatically turn off at that time. The lamp unit warning light will illuminate red after 1,800 hours to advise you that the bulb is reaching the end of its life. Brightness decreases with use, so you may decide you want to replace the lamp earlier.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Turn the projector on.

  • Look at the upper left corner of the screen. If the text "Replace Lamp" is displayed for 30 seconds, or if the lamp indicator on the unit is red, you have reached 1,800 hours of use and you should order a new bulb. If the text remains on the screen and doesn't vanish after 30 seconds, you have reached 2,000 hours of use. The unit will switch off after ten minutes.

  • Press any button to clear the screen.

  • Turn the unit off and disconnect the power supply from the wall outlet.

  • Wait until the unit has cooled down.

  • Remove the lamp unit cover screws located on the bottom of the projector with your Phillips screwdriver.

  • Unscrew the two lamp unit fixing screws. Hold the handle of the lamp unit, and pull it out of the projector.

  • Insert the new lamp unit. Make sure the direction is right.

  • Secure the screws on the lamp unit and then on the cover.
