Touch-up paint is great for covering your car's scratches. The paint will help to prevent the metal from rusting. But you don't want to overdo it and leave paint on areas that still have clear coat. If you do apply too much and want to remove it, try to do it quickly, before the paint dries. If it's still wet, the excess paint can be wiped off with a wet cloth. Once it dries, you'll need to use a more painstaking method to remove the paint.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Detailing clay
  • Soap and water
  • Bucket
  • Sponge
  • Lint-free towel
  1. Step 1

With a sponge, wash the area with soap and water. Remove any loose debris.

  2. Step 2

Dry the area with a lint-free towel.

  3. Step 3

Wet the area that has too much touch-up paint on it. Rub the detailing clay bar into the touch-up paint, confining yourself to the clear coat area. You should start to notice the clay bar giving resistance after a while. This is normal. The touch-up paint is coming off at this point. When you think the excess touch-up paint is gone, wipe the area with a lint-free towel and check your work. If you find a bit more paint you want to remove, repeat the rubbing process until it's gone.
