How to Illustrate Swirls & Flowers
Illustrating flowers and swirls on a computer is not difficult with the right software to help you, such as Adobe Illustrator. If you do not already own a copy of Illustrator, a free trial is available at Adobe.com (see References). Once you create the basic designs, you can manipulate them countless ways, making them personalized.

Creating a Flower

4
Select the arc tool. Draw an arc. Click and draw another arc, connecting the end points of both arcs together; this is your petal shape.
-
5
Select the two points with the selection tool (A) and right-click to choose "Join" from the menu.
-
6
Select the petal and press "Control + C" and then "Control +V" to copy and paste as many petals as you like. Each petal can be individually manipulated with the Free Transform tool if you want them to vary.
-
7
Select the "Ellipse Tool(L)" and draw a circle for the center of your flower. Click on a color from the color palette while the circle is selected and it will fill in that color; this works for your petals too.
-
8
Position the petals around the circle with the tips underneath as you like using the Selection or Free Transform tools. Use the Line tool to draw a stem if you like. Select all and right-click to choose "Join" from the menu.
