Step 1
Visit a city or a farm. If you have lived in the city most of your life, take a trip to the country. If you grew up on a farm or in the country, take a trip to the city. Try to stay with people you know who can show you around the area. Apply for a job in either the city or the farm if you do not know anyone in these areas.
-
Step 2
Correspond with someone who lives in either the city or on a farm. Ask him to describe his experiences. If you don't know someone who lives in the place you're curious about, consider looking on a social networking site. If you don't have Internet access, see if your local library offers it.

Step 3
Go to a farmers market to learn more about farm life. Many cities have a farmers market, though it might be closed during the winter. Ask the people who run the market where the produce was grown and whether you can visit the farm. In rural areas, there are often roadside stands that sell produce from a local farm. The people who run these stands often live on a farm as well. Ask whether you could have a tour of the farm.

Step 4
Go to a farm show if you want to know about farm life. Some areas have annual farm shows that showcase livestock and produce. Compare what you see to an event in the city, such as a car show.

Step 5
Write down your experiences. Compose a list of the similarities and differences between city life and farm life. Include your thoughts, initial impressions and how you felt overall after experiencing both lifestyles.
