How to Make a Steam Treatment for a Cough

This steam treatment for a cough is easy to make. This steam treatment helps with a cough and persistent coughing and is gentle enough for regular use. This steam treatment can be used as needed, but I suggest using at least once per day to help cure a cough.

Things You'll Need

  • 4 Cups of Water
  • 1 Drop of Cedarwood Oil
  • 1 Drop of Hyssop Oil
  • 1 Drop of Eucalyptus Oil

Instructions

    • 1

Pour the water into a pan, and bring to a simmer. Once it begins to simmer, remove the pan from the heat. Make sure not to allow the water to reach a boil, which is too harsh for these essential oils and will weaken the treatment.

    • 2

Settle into a comfortable position, where you can lean over the pan comfortably.

    • 3

Drop the cedarwood oil, hyssop oil and eucalyptus oil into the pan, and stir the mixture together quickly.

    • 4

Lean over the pan, and pull a towel behind your head and shoulders to work as a tent to keep the steam from escaping.

    • 5

Breathe in the steam, taking turns between both deep and small breaths.

    • 6

Continue this for about 10 to 15 minutes.
