Things You'll Need:
- A computer
- Your wits about you
-
Step 1
Be sure that the job is not posted multiple different states, under the same title. Sometimes this can be okay, but many times, it may be a multi-level scam that isn't just local. To be absolutely sure, type the exact title, or a section of text, in parenthesis into google to see what comes up.
-
Step 2
Don't click on jobs that have a very generic title, such as "admin assistant," or pursue listings that are not very clear on the job description. They may not be valid jobs.
-
Step 3
Avoid jobs that redirect you to another website, or ask you to input your personal information, and at all costs, don't buy anything from them. A real job will pay you, not the other way around.
-
Step 4
Don't become desperate. Sure, it's easy to do in a job market like this, but becoming desperate leads you to think less rationally, and you may fall prey to some of the scammers on craigslist.
-
Step 5
Consider sales. Sales might make some shudder, but it's better than nothing in this economy. Many job offers on craigslist are valid sales jobs, and in trying out a sales job, you might end up liking it.
-
Step 6
Send out many copies of your resume to any different jobs that might vaguely fit your job description. With the job market the way it is, it is more important for you to find that one potential job than for human resources managers to be slightly annoyed with an overfull inbox. Whoever said the word, "spam?"
