Aerobics instructors have flexible schedules, the benefit of a healthy work environment, and the opportunity to help people reach their fitness goals. Aerobics instructor certification allows you to be a healthy influence in someone else's life; here's how to get started in this career.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Get fit.
That's right; if you're going to become an aerobics instructor, you need to practice what you're going to preach. It would be hard to take an aerobics instructor seriously if they were out of shape themselves, so commit to fitness yourself before you start in on this career.

  2. Step 2

Get your CPR and First Aid cards.
If you're going to get your aerobics instructor certification, you must be prepared to handle a medical emergency in the case that someone in your class suffers from an injury or heart problem.

  3. Step 3

    Get your aerobics instructor certificate.
There are multiple agencies that offer aerobics instructor certificates; choose the one that works best for you.

  4. Step 4

Practice speaking to a group while exercising.
It's harder than it sounds! Before you step out in front of an aerobics class, make sure you have mastered leading a group of people through an exercise routine while maintaining your own coordination.

  5. Step 5

    Get your personal training certificate.
Because being an aerobics instructor would be physically demanding as a full time job, it's a good idea to have a backup plan to make up a full 40 hour work week. a personal training certificate compliments an aerobic instructor program and increases your chances of finding clientele for both PT and classes.
