Things You'll Need:
- leftover roast
- roast broth
-
Step 1
First of all, we are using leftover roast. There are a lot of foods that are the best when you eat them the next day. Roast is definitely one of them. Some may want to do something different with their roast. It is possible with a totally different meal idea.
-
Step 2
You might have read my first article about using roast to make BBQ sandwiches. If not you can by clicking the link below.
-
Step 3
Take your leftover roast and flake it. This is to separate it. Set it aside.
Gravy:
Turn on a cast iron skillet and warm up about 1/2 cup of oil in it. Add about a half of a cup of flour. (Please understand that I never measure for my gravy. I just know by cooking, so I am guessing).
You will want to fry the flour until it is completely soaked with oil and starting to brown. Do not overcook it, it will taste burnt.
Gradually add the leftover roast broth to your oil/flour mixture and stir constantly. Keep adding because the flour will lump and the water will thicken. Once you reach a good gravy consistency add the leftover roast. You can even slice the roast and pour the gravy over it. -
Step 4
Toast your bread or bun and add the roast and gravy over the top. Serve with the leftover vegetables or homemade mashed potatoes.
