Nannies provide childcare for busy households, often lending assistance with the homework, transportation, and the social needs of the children. Being a nanny can be very rewarding as it provides the opportunity to have a profoundly positive influence on a child.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Become certified in CPR and First Aid. Parents will like to know that their nanny can handle an emergency.

  2. Step 2

Learn to cook for children. Nanny jobs often require that you provide meals; it’s helpful to have a good concept of children’s nutrition.

  3. Step 3

Take childcare courses in order to further your chances of getting a nanny job. STARS certification will prep you for a nanny career; look to your local community college for that certification.

  4. Step 4

Keep a clean driving record: you will be hard pressed to find nanny jobs without a license.

  5. Step 5

Put an add out in the local newspaper indicating that you are looking for nanny jobs. It’s also a good idea to create a business card to help spread the word of your services.

  6. Step 6

    Stay current on your immunizations.

  7. Step 7

Be responsible. Nanny jobs require a lot of trust from the children’s parents; don’t ever abuse that.
