You will learn to diagnose your doggie's constipation problems and treat them.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • constipated dog
  • Fleet enema
  • access to out of doors
  • shovel
  1. Step 1

Observe the behavior of your doggie to see if he is having difficulty defecating. If he is straining without producing anything and keeps trying, it is time to help him.

  2. Step 2

Take your dog outside to a secluded spot where he will feel comfortable, while you speak to him gently and encouragingly. This is especially important if you are working with a large dog, like a German Shepherd.

  3. Step 3

Open the package of Fleet enema and show it to the doggie. Pet him and tell him he is a "Good Doggie!"

  4. Step 4

Carefully insert the Fleet enema into the rectum of the dog and squeeze the contents of the bottle into him.

  5. Step 5

Get out of the way so doggie can perform. The results are immediate. When you get the desired results, pet your dog and tell him how good he is.

  6. Step 6

Clean up the mess. With the shovel, get rid of the mess to keep your yard clean.

Tips & Warnings
  • You must have good rapport with your dog to give him an enema.
  • Don't try giving an enema to a dog that does not trust you. If it is necessary and the dog is large, get people to help you hold him.
