Working on squatting will help you to lose the weight. If you squat instead of using a chair to sit while typing you are more likely to strengthen muscles in your legs. Doing squats for a few minutes at a time also helps your balance. If you are not quite capable of squatting for longer periods of time purchase an exercise ball and use this instead of a chair. The ball will help you maintain your posture while in front of the computer. Good posture is known to help build a better core strength.

While sitting with your feet on the floor you can work your calves. Making sure your feet are planted in front of you raise your heels, make sure you are on the balls of your feet and then lower then back to their starting position. Do this several times, making sure each time you can feel the burn in your calf muscles.

Tighten your abdominal muscles for thirty seconds at a time. Doing this repetitively while sitting can help tone tummy muscles. Do the same with your buttock muscles, clench the muscle for thirty seconds then release.

Stretching your muscles is also important in order to stay fit and healthy. Using your head and your chest shrug your shoulders up and down. Repeat a few times until you notice the difference in tension in your body. Doing neck rolls are also important. Relaxing your shoulders let your head tilt downward, rotating your head in a circle at least five times. Stretch your legs out in front of you lifting one at a time off the ground, hold the first leg in place for two seconds, then try it with the other leg. Try to get each leg level with your hips, the higher you raise the leg the more muscles you are toning.
