How to Remove Contacts From a Phone

The way we use phones has changed dramatically since the turn of the century. There are a variety of cellular phones and smartphones on the market that have a wide array of features. One of the most common features is the ability to store contacts on the phone. This might simply be a person's name and phone number, or a collection of personal information including address, employment information, birthday or anniversary date, and even a photograph. Removing a contact is usually just a few clicks away.

Instructions

Step 1

Locate and open the address book or contact list on your phone. This will vary, depending on the type of phone you are using. For example, on the iPhone, the contact list can be located by pressing the phone icon located on the bottom of the phone. On the Blackberry, the address book can be located by rolling the trackball until the address book icon is highlighted and then pressing the trackball.
Step 2

Highlight the contact you wish to delete. How you do this will vary depending on the phone you are using.
Step 3

Open the menu and press the delete button, and then confirm that you wish to delete. On the Blackberry, the menu is opened by pressing the button to the left of the trackball. On the iPhone, a minus sign or trashcan icon allows you to delete.
