Instructions

  1. How to Create a Memo Board

    • 1

Cut a 1/2-inch thick piece of batting so that 3 inches hang over all sides of a piece of cork board. Use a cork board that is at least 18 by 24 inches.

    • 2

Glue the batting to the cork board using a hot glue gun. Allow the extra batting to hang over the side of the cork board.

    • 3

Cut a piece of fabric that is the same size as the batting. Select a fabric that is complementary to the decor of the room or pleasing to the memo-board user.

    • 4

Wrap the fabric around the cork board, on top of the batting. Pull the fabric as taut as possible, similar to wrapping a present.

    • 5

Staple the batting and fabric to the back of the cork board. Use at least four staples.

    • 6

Glue or staple diagonal ribbons across the fabric at regular intervals. Pull each ribbon taut and glue or staple the extra 3 inches to the back of the cork board. Use ribbon that is complementary to the fabric pattern/color.

    • 7

Glue or staple diagonal ribbons across the fabric at regular intervals in the opposite direction so that the ribbons intersect. Pull each ribbon taut and glue or staple the extra 3 inches to the back of the cork board.

    • 8

Sew buttons onto the intersections of the ribbons. Use buttons that are complementary to the fabric and ribbon colors.

    • 9

Staple a ribbon across the back of the cork board. Use the ribbon to hang the your new memo board on a nail on a wall.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use ribbons of different colors for a more eclectic look.

  • Change the look of the memo board by pulling off the fabric and ribbons and adding new ones.

  • For a sturdier mount, use a saw-tooth mounting bracket instead of a ribbon.

  • According to the website Online Tips, you should treat your staple gun like a handgun to prevent injury.
