Ceramic tile floors are beautiful, durable additions to any home. If you are installing a ceramic tile floor, you are probably concerned with maintaining the floor to stop stains, mold and mildew from developing in the grout between the tiles. To prevent this, seal the floor to create a barrier that blocks these unwanted things from penetrating. If your ceramic tile is glazed, as most are, you will only need to seal the grout and joints. The tile itself is already sealed.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Allow your new ceramic floor to set. Most grout manufacturers suggest allowing the grout to set for two weeks before sealing.

  2. Step 2

Put on your rubber gloves to prevent sealer from irritating your skin.

  3. Step 3

Dip the sponge brush in the sealer and apply it to the grout lines. Be neat but don't worry about getting some sealer on glazed tile. You will get this off in the next step.

  4. Step 4

Wipe the tile with a damp towel to remove any sealer on the tiles themselves. Do this before the sealer dries.

  5. Step 5

Allow the sealer to dry for at least 24 hours.
