Instructions

    • 1

Cut 1 yard of the 3- to 4-inch wide ribbon in half. Place the two pieces of ribbon, right sides touching, on a flat surface.

    • 2

Pin the edges and one end of the ribbons, leaving one end open.

    • 3

Sew along the pins, using a straight stitch. Leave one end open, forming a ribbon tube. Remove the pins.

    • 4

Use the tweezers to reach inside of the ribbon tube and grasp the sewn end. Pull the ribbon right side out through the opening. Use a dowel rod or pencil end to poke the ribbon out all of the way if necessary.

    • 5

Slip the ribbon slipcover over the headband, gathering or bunching it up on the headband until all of the ribbon tube is on the headband.

    • 6

Use a dab of glue from the glue gun to secure the end of the bunched up ribbon tube to the headband.

    • 7

Fold the open raw edges of the ribbon inside and sew closed with a few stitches with a needle and thread or glue with the glue gun.

Tips & Warnings

  • Bows can be made and affixed to the ribbon slipcovers by using the glue gun and glue sticks. Add self adhesive Velcro inside the ribbon tube to use as a changeable ribbon slipcover.

  • Use caution when operating glue guns as some brands reach high temperatures and can lead to burns and injuries.
