How to Throw a Freaky Party
Throwing a creepy party is easy with the right accouterments. In fact, the creepiest parties do not utilize smoke machines or Halloween-like decorations. The best parties utilize space, darkness, and the overactive imaginations of guests. All of this is easily accomplished with the right venue and a few tricks. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Choose a remote location. Throwing a party in a nice, friendly wholesome neighborhood doesn't have the same freaky factor as throwing a party in the middle of nowhere. Open spaces provide a feeling of suspense, as anyone (or anything) could be lurking in the dark areas. Find a location on the outskirts of town, up a hill or out in a field for the best party location. Old state parks are some venues which fulfills this requirement.
Be sure you will not be trespassing; otherwise, the scariest part of the party will be the police breaking it up. Get all necessary permission and permits beforehand.

2
Use an old house. Old houses are far superior to newer houses in their ability to creak and make inexplicable sounds. Check your guest list for people who own an old house and ask them if you might host the party at their place.
An alternative is to use the basement. Basements are dark and notoriously creepy.

Keep the lights dim. If the party is outdoors, consider turning it into a flashlight party. Ask the guests to bring a flashlight, and offer no additional lighting at the party. The Globe and Mail suggests using plenty of candle light. To avoid any fires, ensure all candles are placed in a tall votive.

4
Create odd noises. Choose an accomplice to help you create scary sounds. Ask them to make loud "thuds" upstairs or bang pipes downstairs. Even running through fallen leaves can cause the guests to jump. When asked about the noise, just shrug and say you've noticed these sounds ever since you set up the party.

Make tombstones: the simpler, the better. The simpler the tombstone, the better. You do not need to create cardboard tombstones, which look childish more than freaky. Just take two long sticks and make a cross. Tie them together with string or wire. Stick them in the ground by the house or the area, perhaps making a small circle with rocks. Only make one grave site, and place the party just within eyesight of it. To light the area, Halloween-party.info recommends blue lighting for the eeriest effect.
Like with the creepy sounds, offer no explanation for what they represent or why they are there. If in a wide, outdoor area, say you researched the venue online and how it mentioned something about a girl who lost her pet. If the venue is in a house, mention how the owner's pet recently died and maybe that could be the reason for the gravesite.
