Pale yellow, almost perfectly round fruits with a flavor somewhere between and apple and a pear, Asian pears have a light, crispy texture that delights the palate. For the gourmet gardener, growing an Asian pear tree is a rewarding experience. Seeds from this tasty fruit have a high germination rate, perfect for even a novice gardener. Within a matter of weeks you can have your own pear grove.
Step 1
Obtain Asian pear seeds. These seeds can be ordered from online nurseries or local nurseries. You can also harvest these seeds from the pears themselves. If you harvest the seeds from the fruit, rinse them well with water.

Stratify the seeds by placing them into damp paper towels, wraping them into packets and placing them into plastic bags. Place these bags into the refrigerator for three to four months. Check them once per month for moisture, and re-moisten the packets as needed. Otherwise, leave them undisturbed during the stratification process.
Step 3
Prepare the planting location for the seeds. For garden beds, amend the soil with potting soil and compost. Break up any clumps and remove rocks from the location. For containers, fill the containers with nutrient rich potting soil.
Step 4
Plant the seeds. Insert the seeds into the soil no more than a half inch below the surface. Cover them lightly with soil, and water in well.
Step 5
Maintain the seedlings. Stake seedlings once they reach one foot, and especially during the first year of growth, as wind can damage the seedlings. Water them frequently.
