A CPAP machine is prescribed by a doctor for sleep apnea sufferers or those who deal with chronic snoring. The machine works by forcing air down the wearer's nasal passages. This ensures proper ventilation. The amount of air flow released from the machine into the body is determined by the pressure setting. In most cases, this setting is determined by the doctor before the patient receives the machine, but on select machines, such as the REMstar Plus, it can be changed at the wearer's discretion.

  1. Step 1

Unplug the machine. Hold down the power button and "ramp" button at the same time as plugging the machine back in. This will cause the setup screen to appear on the LCD screen.

  2. Step 2

Click the power button to scroll through the options until you discover the one labeled "CPAP Pressure."

  3. Step 3

Use the ramp button and humidifier button that serve as forward and backward arrows to increase or decrease the air flow, as desired. The lowest air flow setting is 1, 2 is the middle setting, and 3 is the highest flow.

  4. Step 4

Press the power button to save the changes and exit the menu.
