How to Cut Electrical Conduit
Electrical conduit safely routes wiring from a power source to an outlet or device. Not only does it provide safety during a construction or remodeling project, but it is also a requirement for many building codes. Electrical conduit comes in either heavy graded PVC or aluminum pipe. Make sure no electrical wires are running through the conduit if you are working on a remodeling project.

Measure the conduit to the desired length and mark the measurement.

Mount the conduit snug in a vise to prevent it from moving or twisting.

Cut the conduit with the hack saw. Make sure the cut is perfectly square (90 degrees) to the end of the pipe and not at an angle.

Use the carpenters file to smooth away any burrs or shards around the edge of the cut.

Tips & Warnings
Pipe cutters and other special tools are available to cut conduit, but they can be more costly and time-consuming. Using such tools is more of a preference then a requirement.
