LED stands for light emitting diode. LED lamps are low energy, have a long life, require no glass tubes and have no mercury inside. LED lights come in many colors and may be used for general lighting purposes, flood lighting and spotlighting. The drafting symbol for LED is a reference to the way the electric current causes the diode to light up when the electricity flows through it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Draw a straight horizontal line, 1/2 inch long.

  2. Step 2

Draw an equilateral triangle, 1/4 inch on each side, at the end of the horizontal line, pointing to the right. The horizontal line and triangle together form an arrow.

  3. Step 3

At the tip of the triangle, draw a vertical line 1/4 inch long, centered so the triangle's tip points directly into the middle of the vertical line. The tip of the triangle should touch the vertical line but not cross through it.

  4. Step 4

Draw a horizontal line 1/2" long directly out the middle of the vertical line you just drew, extending to the right side. The vertical line and this new line should form a T lying on its left side.

  5. Step 5

Above the triangle, at about a 45 degree angle to the triangle's upper side, draw two small arrows, parallel to each other. Both arrows should fit over the triangle's side and be less than 1/4 inch long.
