How to Fix a Shower Curtain

Shower curtains are prone to rips and tears due to daily use. Tears usually occur around the rings because pressure is constantly put on this area. Instead of replacing your shower curtain you can fix it easily, as long as it's still in good shape, with a simple household item: tape. This method will work for both vinyl and plastic shower curtains.

Things You'll Need

• Medical or clear vinyl tape
• Hole punch (if necessary)

Instructions

1. Remove the curtain from the shower by pulling down the curtain pole and sliding off the rings.

2. Inspect the tear in the curtain. As long as the rip is relatively small, it can be repaired with tape.

3. Dry the curtain thoroughly with a towel and make sure the area you are going to repair is clean.

4. Cover the tear with medical or clean vinyl tape on both sides. If you are repairing a torn curtain ring hole, fold a piece of tape over the top and use a hole punch to make a new hole.

5. Allow the tape to seal for a couple of hours before letting the curtain get wet.

Tips & Warnings

• If the tear is very small, it can be patched with candle wax. Drip a little hot wax on both side of the tear, smooth it flat with your finger or a knife and let it dry.
