How to Store Herbal Tea Leaves

Herbal teas are used as flavorful drinks and for their varied health benefits.Tea bags are available, but for the best results and a higher grade of tea, by herb leaves and make your own blends specific to your tastes or needs. Fresh leaves must be carefully stored, however, although doing so is easy.

Things You'll Need

• Container with a tight seal

Instructions

1. Place dried or fresh herb leaves into the container.

2. Make sure the container is properly sealed and will not let any moisture or heat in.

3. Store in the refrigerator.

4. Use as desired, discarding any leaves that show signs of fermentation or old age.

Tips & Warnings

• Signs of fermentation include seeping liquid and brown spots on the leaves.

• Discard any leaves that begin to grow mold or develop spots.

• Herbs can survive in the refrigerator storage system for up to six months.
