How to Organize Food Storage
Organization is an important aspect of food storage. Keeping the storage area tidy will enable easy access to the food that is stored there, making it simple to see what is on hand in little time. It is easy to see what needs to be restocked when the area is kept organized, and there is less waste.
Saving money on food items is another reason to keep the pantry organized. Knowing how much of each item is on hand will allow a person to gauge how much of each item is needed. Being able to see how much more storage space is available will allow the person to know if stocking up on extra sale items is possible.

Keep like items together. Put cereal, oatmeal and other breakfast items on one shelf. Place pasta and pizza items with sauces on another. Arrange fruits and vegetables on their own shelf. Putting condiments on their own shelf will make things easier.

Place same size items on each shelf together for optimum storage space, being sure to keep different foods separate.

Hang a dry erase board on a wall near the food storage area. Create an inventory in grid format on the board using the permanent marker. Write the food list on the board with the same marker. Keep a dry erase marker and eraser nearby.

Provide a tally mark after each item for each one that has been stored. Use the dry erase marker for this purpose. Cross off a tally mark each time an item is used, and add a tally mark each time an item is added.

Use small containers for storing different take-out items, such as ketchup and mustard. Use these items when packing lunches for picnics and other activities.

Use baskets or other containers to store small items that will not store easily on the food shelves. Spices can easily be stored this way, as can drink or gravy mixes.

Use another container for teas. These can easily get out of control if not kept in check. Coffee bags can be placed in another container. Use containers with lids for these items, to lock in the freshness.

Tips & Warnings
Line pantry shelves, with shelf paper for easier cleaning.
Put a couple of bay leaves on each shelf and one in each basket or other container. This will help to prevent bugs from getting to the food.
An extra basket for delivery items such napkin and silverware packets will be useful.
