How to Put a SIM Card in an LG Vu

Save

The Vu is a smartphone that is exclusive to AT&T customers in 2009. Given that the Vu is a GSM phone, it needs a SIM card to work with AT&T's cellular and data networks. The subscriber identity module (SIM) card is used to give the device the customer's phone number and plan features. Although the Vu is a critical success, some users have found it difficult to locate and insert a SIM card into the phone.

Things You'll Need

  • LG Vu CU920 or CU915
  • AT&T SIM card
  • Remove the battery door by pressing firmly and sliding it downward.

  • Take the battery out of the device by prying it out of the socket with your finger or a small, thin object. The battery should lift out of its socket fairly easily.

  • Locate the SIM card slot on the right side of the upper wall of the battery socket.

  • Remove the temporary SIM card filler by grasping it on both sides with your thumb and index finger. Gently pull the card out of the slot.

  • Insert your active AT&T SIM card by grasping it on both sides with your thumb and index finger. Gently slide the card into the slot.

  • Press the SIM card firmly to ensure it is securely lodged into the slot.

  • Replace the battery. Line the top of the battery up with the upper wall of the battery socket and slowly lie the battery down. Press firmly to ensure it is secure in the socket.

  • Reattach the battery cover.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure the card is secure in its slot before replacing the battery and battery cover. The Vu is known to have trouble reading SIM cards that are not securely locked into the slot.
  • While working with the SIM card, be extremely careful. The card can bend and easily break while being held with the thumb and index finger. If the card happens to crack, your local AT&T store can issue a replacement card.
