How to Make Wings on Photoshop
Whether you want to add angel wings as a backdrop to a person's photograph or unique bird wings to a graphic image, Adobe Photoshop easily allows you to make the realistic feathers and texture of wings. Open Photoshop. Click the "Default Foreground and Background Colors" button in the "Tools" menu. Click the arrow next to this button to switch the color order. The foreground color should now be white and the background color should be black.

Go to "File" in the main menu at the top and click "New." Enter "500 Pixels" for the "Width" and "Height" fields. Click the "Background Contents" drop-down menu and select "Background Color." Click "OK."

Go to "Layer" in the main menu and select "New Layer." Select the "Pen Tool" in the "Tools" menu. Roughly draw the shape of a wing onto your canvas.

Right-click the wing shape with your mouse and choose "Fill Path." Keep all the default settings and click "OK." Right-click on the shape again and choose "Delete Path" to remove the lines.

Select the "Smudge Tool" in the "Tools" menu. Go to the tool settings at the top of Photoshop and click the "Brush" drop-down menu. Enter "10 Pixels" for the "Master Diameter." Select the "Strength" drop-down menu and enter "70%."

Smudge the edges of the wing by clicking on the edge of the shape and dragging your mouse out and up. Continue to smudge along the edge of the wing, taking care to preserve and maintain the original wing contour.

Go to "Filter" in the main menu and navigate to "Blur." Choose "Radial Blur" and enter "100" for amount and choose "Zoom" for the blur method. Click "OK." Go back to "Filter" and repeat the same blur. Enter "50" for the amount and click "OK."

Go to "Filter" and select "Blur." Choose "Gaussian Blur" and enter a radius of "1 Pixel." Click "OK."

Tips & Warnings
Easily complete the wing set by inserting the opposing wing. Go to the "Layers" window and make sure that the layer containing the wing shape is selected. Go to "Layer" in the main menu and select "Duplicate Layer." Then go to "Edit" in the main menu, navigate down to "Transform," and select "Flip Horizontal." Use the "Move" tool to adjust the position of the opposing wing on your canvas.
