How to Hang a Glass Hummingbird Feeder With Spout
Hummingbirds are experts at retrieving nectar from flowers. These amazing creatures are drawn to sweet smelling, sugary nectars and fragrances and can usually be found fluttering around spoutlike or trumpet-shaped flowers. Their long curved beaks are perfectly designed for extracting nectar from these types of flowers. Hummingbird feeders should mimic the shape of trumpet flowers by having spouts protruding from the vessel to ensure the small birds will be attracted to them. 1
Observe the areas in your yard where hummingbirds tend to frequent. Areas around trumpet-shaped flowers are great spots to find hummingbirds, and this will give you an idea as to the best spot to hang your feeder.
-
2
Find a low hanging tree branch about 5 to 6 feet off the ground near the hummingbird feeding area that you already observed. If a tree is not available, you can place a fence post or a standing plant hanger in the area.

3
Place a nail on the tree branch or fence post and hang the feeder on the nail by attaching a small rope or twine to the feeder, if one is not already available from the manufacturer.
-
4
Fill your feeder with a solution of sugar water and let it drip out of the spout slightly. Ensure that the spout isn't covered or blocked by any leaves so the hummingbird has easy access to the feeder.
