Tulle is a great decorating tool because of the sheer, wispy effect it adds to any room. Tulle draped over lights can add a romantic look to weddings, anniversary celebrations, birthday parties, or any other event. Draping tulle is made easy by the fabric's lightweight, flexible feel, so you can manipulate it to decorate any space. How to Drape Tulle on a Table
-
1
Measure the table where you will be draping the tulle. Cut a length of tulle that is at least the length of the table, and then add a few extra yards to allow extra fabric for making the fabric gather or sag.
-
2
Place the end of the string of lights against the outer corner of the table. Lay the end of the tulle so that it is as flat as possible, over the end of the lights.

-
3
Drape the fabric and lights along the edge of the table, holding both together so the lights don't become bunched underneath. Drape the tulle and lights so that they form 1 large swag across the table, or create smaller swags by clamping it to the table every few feet. End with a table clamp on the other end.
-
4
Cover the table clamps with bows or flowers to they are not visible. Allow the tulle to hang down on each end if you need to hide the cord of the lights.
How to Drape Tulle from the Ceiling
-
5
Find out the square footage of the room from the owner of the hall or house where the party is being hosted. Divide the length in half and measure to that point on the floor and mark it with a piece of tape. Do the same with the width. Set up a ladder at the center point of the room; a chandelier or light fixture may mark this point.
-
6
Gather the end of the tulle together, and use thumbtacks to secure the end of the tulle to the ceiling. This will create a "sling" as you drape the tulle along the ceiling. Place the non-electrical end of the string of lights in the sling, and tape it to the ceiling with double sided tape.
-
7
Drape the tulle and lights along the ceiling, either securing it at random spots along the way, or allowing it to form a large swag. Use another pushpin to secure the tulle to the wall, and allow it to drape down to the floor so that the lights can be plugged into an outlet or electrical cord. Drape the tulle across the ceiling to the center of the wall, or to the corners of the room for a soft, romantic lighting effect.

Tips & Warnings
If there are more than one chandelier or lighting fixture in the room, use each of these as a starting point to cover the ceiling in tulle.
Do not use the pushpins on the string of lights, as puncturing the cord will damage the electric and may cause the lights to short out.
