Dentures and partial plates are fragile and must be properly cleaned and stored in order to last for years. Dentures and partials should be cleaned to remove germs and to keep the owner's breath fresh. Plaque and food particles can build up on the surface of dentures and if not removed, will harden and become difficult to remove. Cleaning and storing dentures and partials should become a routine at night and will only take a couple minutes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cup
  • Water
  • Denture cleaner
  • Soft-bristled toothbrush
  1. Step 1

Remove your dentures and partial plate and rinse them in warm water. Do not use hot water, because it can change the shape of the dentures.

  2. Step 2

Use a soft bristled tooth brush and denture cleaning paste to gently remove plaque and food particles from your dentures and partial plate. It is very important to be gentle when brushing your dentures, because they scratch easily. Do not use regular toothpaste, because it may be too harsh for your dentures.

  3. Step 3

Rinse your dentures and partial plate in warm water and make sure to remove all cleaning paste.

  4. Step 4

Put your dentures and partial plates in separate cups filled with warm water. Drop an overnight denture cleaner and partial cleaner, such as Polident, into their respective cups. Overnight cleaners will keep your dentures moist and kill bacteria. If you do not have a denture cleaner, just put your dentures and partials in a cup of water to prevent them from drying out.
