How to Troubleshoot an Insinkerator

Insinkerator instant hot water dispensers provide point-of-use heating for water in your kitchen. You can have nearly boiling water instantly with a touch of the handle. The heating unit is concealed under the sink and powered by a standard AC outlet. That outlet for the heater is in the faucet itself or a separate spigot on the side of the sink.   1. Heater does not work due to no power

      Check that the unit is plugged in and the switch on the front of the heater unit is on.

      Ensure the electric socket has power. Check the circuit breaker or fuse for the circuit that provides power to the Insinkerator. Reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse.

      Ensure the correct capacity fuse is used for the circuit.

      If the circuit breaker continues to trip of fuse blows again, have an electrician check the circuit.

    Heater stops working

      Remove the power cord from the socket.

      Remove the thermostat cover on the front of the heater unit.

      Inspect the heater unit for any worn or loose electrical connections.

      Press the red reset button at the top of the thermostat compartment.

      If the button clicks when pressed, something has caused the unit to overheat. Leave the unit unplugged and have the unit serviced.

    Water overheats, or the relief valve releases steam
